coaching techniques for experienced tennis players
Tennis coaching for intermediary and the advanced level players is completely different to that of beginner level players. The primary difference lies in the fact that these levels of tennis players already possess skill sets and adequate amounts of body fitness; so the coaching techniques will have to be adaptive to the individual requirements of the tennis players. The skill levels of the players can vary in accordance to the ability of the individual players and can also be depended upon the type of initial coaching and practice that they have undergone. So the coaches will have to be aware of the regimen that was followed by the tennis players during their formative stages and ensure that the current coaching patterns are aimed at reducing the lacuna that might have crept into the players’ skill levels.
This individual adaptation is most essential at this level and can eventually determine the success and progress of the tennis players to higher levels. Apart from this the coaching pattern will also need to ensure that the players have adequate amount of practice to not only strengthen their skills but also improve upon them. The aim of the coaching sessions will always be to equip the tennis players with well rounded skills that can aid in their success at future levels. The other important aspects for these levels of tennis players, is the improvement of their physical strength, stamina and endurance. People who have reached the intermediary level will most invariably have the basic skill sets and acceptable levels of physical fitness. But for the players to reach the higher levels, they will have to improve upon their fitness to international standards, and that is only possible by sustained and well coordinated coaching sessions. Every coaching session must include as much attention as the skill development aspect is given. Individual attention must be given to all the tennis players during the coaching sessions. This not only ensures fast tracked improvement, but also ensures that the individual requirements of the tennis players are well addressed. The other important aspect of tennis players of these levels is amount of time that they spend on practicing with peers. Practice is a much neglected aspect at all levels of coaching, but the importance of practice is magnified during this stage of the tennis player’s career. Practice not only ensures a sharpening of the existing levels of skill sets, but it also provides valuable experience to the tennis players in terms of match play.
